Peavey Classic 30 - Hand wired Part 1 guitar amp mod

A reworked and hand wired Peavey Classic 30 guitar amp. With added filament transformer so that all tubes are parallel wired (original wiring was series). Now power tubes can be pulled to reduce power and heat. Cathode bias / Fixed bias (adjustable) switch added for additional tone options. Master volume added. Dual gang pot for both stages of OD channel for improved control and range. Long Tail Pair phase inverter added (change from original Cathodyne phase inverter). 16/8 Ohm impedance...

12AX7 Schmitt Phase Inverter circuit (PI)

See our non-profit green energy site here: http://www.lablancinventors.org/

A 12AX7 Schmitt phase inverter aka Long tail pair in the audio world is breadboarded here. It works well at audio frequency but for radio frequency a 6922 vacuum tube should work much better.

This splitter/inverter is used to drive a push pull vacuum tube amp.

Philips EL6431 PA driven with Williamson Phase Inverter

I have not posted a video in ages, I think the last one was about 3 years ago, since then I have become much more knowledgeable but also more silly and overly confident....

So, here is an amp I have been working on for a number of years now.... and finally it seems that I have hit the sweet spot, with much troubleshooting I isolated an anonymous buzz to what I believe is an LTP(long tailed pair) inverter stage with grid ground, the solution, a near perfect symmetry Williamson phase...

Simplexi V2 - with Parallel Lead/Bass channels

DIY tube amp using the Wattkins Universal PCB

Trying a new topology: paralleled triodes (Lead and Bass) into a Long Tail Phase Inverter, into a pair of fixed-bias 6K6GT power tubes.

The potentiometer and cap hanging on top of the amp is a "Cut" control that I haven't decided yet if I'm keeping or not (hence the lack of a hole in the chassis for it). It's left in the minimal treble attenuation for the length of the video.

New archtop and amp

Just test driving some new stuff. I finished building the amp a few days ago and have yet to build it's speaker cabinet. The archtop I finished a few weeks ago. The amp is an all octal amp with cathode biased 6L6's, a 6SL7 long tail pair phase inverter and two 6SQ7GT's for the preamp.

The archtop is an x-braced hand carved guitar inspired by Johnny Smith's D'Angelico. It has a custom made copy of my old DeArmond Rhythm Chief pickup. The audio is pretty terrible....it kept peaking out...

Peavey Classic 30 - Hand Wired Part 3 / Phase 2 circuits for Reverb and Tremolo

This is Phase 2 of my project to rebuild and hand wire my Peavey Classic 30. In this phase of the project I'm tackling the electronic circuits of the original reverb (with slight mod to feedback circuit to increase depth) and now using a new Accutronics/Belton 3 spring reverb. This reverb will be non-switchable as it is in the Peavey Delta Blues circuit. I also added the Tremolo circuit of the Peavey Delta Blues with slight mod to show speed rate via LED and input to the signal after new...
