Long-tailed Weasel, Winter Phase with prey
Old Red Images
The long-tailed weasel (Mustela frenata) inhabits most of North America. In the northern climates, the long tailed weasel turns white in the winter, while the tail retains its black tip. Long-tailed weasels are voracious hunters, feeding mostly on rodents, and sometimes on much larger prey, like rabbits. The body of the long-tailed weasel is adapted for burrowing under ice, snow and underground in pursuit of prey.

Video and photos taken from our car...as we just came by this natural occurrence, accidentally. Probably why he he didn't seem to scared as he went about his serious business, getting a meal.
Interesting to see this little hunter, in action today, on an outdoor adventure of ours.
